Our Story
2024 was the year that two married people decided to take over a bar in central Hereford .
Stuart - a former professional Canary Island drag queen, trained ballerina and hair stylist from Tewkesbury
and
Ed - a Hereford native. Author, trained actor and former civil servant.
The main motivation was NOT to open a gay bar, exclusively catering for one community, but to open a safe space for everyone. To build a new community.
Despite being bar managers in separate venues, we had never gone into business before, running our own bar. And so, when the successful Cafe Babars came up for sale, we knew that we could keep that ethos going. But it wasnt easy. The place needed a little TLC, and our ethos needed a little refining.
Luckily we teamed up with the best of the best to make this a success.
We prided ourselves on sourcing local Hereford businesses to offer their advice, expertise and guide us in the right direction whilst
friends, family and allies gave their time and effort to help us to realise our dream.
Suddenly it all started falling into place.
People call Thirst Trap a gay bar - mainly because its two gay guys running a bar. Fine.
But look a little deeper.
Our mission is pretty cut and dry - premium music, premium drinks, safe space.
Music wise - Live DJs every weekend playing 90s, 00s, 10s, all good, nothing too niche. Positive vibes only. And NO snobbery whatsoever. Anything goes.
Its that simple!
If that appeals to you, then come and check us out.
We have a gorgeous sun trap of a garden, complete with murals by Dermot Clarke, a private karaoke room and lots of events and big names in our rolodex.
